Conversations on the Constitution: Government Speech and the Confederate Flag

Tuesday, September 15 – 5:30-7:30pm

Cohen Center Ballroom

At this year’s Constitution Day panel, we will focus on government speech and the Confederate flag, using a recent Supreme Court case over license plates (Walker v. Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans) and the controversy over the flag at the South Carolina state capitol as jumping-off points.  An interdisciplinary faculty panel will share their thoughts and students will be invited to voice their comments and questions in an open forum.

Road to the White House 2016

Wednesday, November 4 – 5:30-7:30pm

Sugden Hall 114

Do you have questions about what to expect from next year’s presidential election?  Come to this event to have all your questions answered about the process, politics, and history of presidential campaigns.  Topics covered will include primaries and caucuses, national conventions, the debates, and the Electoral College, as well as any others suggested by the audience.  This is an ideal opportunity to learn everything you ever wanted to know about presidential elections, but were afraid to ask, in a completely non-partisan setting.
