Whether visiting our webpages as a prospective student or family member, or as a guest of the university, we hope that the information provided will be useful as well as give insight into the mission of the Adaptive Services office. The goal of Adaptive Services is to enhance access for students, faculty, staff and guests with disabilities by providing effective reasonable accommodations through educating the campus community and promoting equal access and opportunity.
It is the policy of Adaptive Services to exist under the premise of Florida Gulf Coast University and its mission. FGCU promotes diversity and stresses the importance of learned knowledge and service to the community by providing services and accommodations to individuals who have a documented disabling condition, which could have adverse effects for the individual while attending FGCU. Individuals with a documented condition will be provided services and accommodations that will supplement their learning styles and aid them in becoming academically, professionally and personally successful. Adaptive Services also promotes self-advocacy and each individual receiving assistance will be guided to become more independent and successful learners.
The Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended, ensures that individuals with disabilities are able to participate in all programs and services offered by entitites receiving federal assistance.
