Preparing for an advising appointment - It is important that you are fully prepared to meet with your academic advisor.  Here is some information about your responsiblities as a student in the advisor-advisee relationship.  Before each advising appointment, you should:

1.  Check your holds via GULFLINE under Menus/Student & Financial Aid/Student Records prior to advisement.

2.  If any holds exist other than the AF (Freshman Advising Hold), consult the student hold key for how to remove these holds.

3.  Take steps to develop a set of possible course options for the next semester.  This includes:

  • Reviewing the Major Track and the departmental website for your major to understand degree requirements
  • Reviewing the General Education Checklist to determine the GEP courses you need to complete
  • Review your Degree Works degree evaluation in Gulfline

4.  Write down any questions you have and bring these questions with you to your appointment - these don't have to be just about academics!
