Policies and Procedures


During Eagle View Orientation, we didn't spend a lot of time reviewing a number of university policies and requirements that may impact you during your time at FGCU. We strongly recommend that you take some time to review the following links for more information about FGCU academic policies, procedures and requirements, and contact First Year Advising if you have any questions.  


College Level Skills Requirement

To receive a Bachelor's degree in the state of Florida, all students must meet the College Level Skills requirement.

Excess hours surcharge policy

For students entering the university after Fall 2012, any hours attempted in excess of 110% of those needed to complete the degree are considered excess, and will be subject to a 100% surcharge.  

Grade Forgiveness policy

Students can use grade forgiveness on two different courses taken at FGCU, provided the original grade in a course was below a C and the grade obtained through the second attempt of the same course is higher than the first.  

3/2 Withdrawal Limit Rule

Beginning with undergraduate courses taken during the Fall 2017 term or later, students exceeding the maximum number of allowable course withdrawals (after the drop/add period) will automatically receive WF grades for each of these courses. 

Repeat course surcharge policy

On the third attempt of the same course at FGCU (including grades of W and I), a surcharge will be applied to the total fees for the course.

Student Academic Hold policy

Students whose accumulative FGCU GPA falls below 2.0 will be expected to complete an Academic Retention Program through the Center for Academic Achievement.

Summer enrollment requirement

New students who have earned less than 60 hours of transferrable credit (not including AP/CLEP/IB/AICE) prior to their first enrollment at FGCU must complete a minimum of 9 credit hours (of the total needed for their degree) during one or more summer terms.
