Meet Our Peer Academic Leaders

 
 

Emily Collier

Emily's hometown is Lehigh Acres, Florida. She is a junior majoring in Child and Youth Studies. In addition to being a Peer Academic Leader, Emily is a LEAD Team Member with Multicultural and Leadership Development, a Peers CARE educator with Prevention & Wellness Services, and an Advising Assistant with Undergraduate Studies Advising. In her free time, Emily enjoys taking fitness classes at Campus Recreation, watching tv series on Netflix, and journaling. Emily's favorite academic tip is "Talk to your professors and get to know them! They are here for you and will help you if you ask!"

 

Melany Hernandez

Melany's hometown is Miami, Florida. She is a senior majoring in Political Science. In addition to being a Peer Academic Leader, Melany is a Student Government Senator, the recruitment chair for College Republicans, TPUSA president, and a member of Chi Omega sorority. In her free time, Melany enjoys swimming, singing, and playing guitar. Melany's favorite academic tip is "ALWAYS use a planner!!!"

 

Natoya Lambert

Natoya's hometown is Honolulu, Hawaii. She is a senior majoring in Communication. In addition to being a Peer Academic Leader, Natoya is a member of Caribbean Student Association, Black Student Association, and (S)he Will Fade. In her free time, Natoya enjoys theatre, reading, and watching Netflix. Natoya's favorite academic tip is "Don't compare yourself to other students. Everyone has their own path and they are all different."

 

Brianna Johnson

Brianna's hometown is North Miami, Florida. She is a junior majoring in Forensic Studies and Legal Studies. In addition to being a Peer Academic Leader, Brianna is involved with the Office of Government Relations and participates in service-learning events. In her free time, Brianna enjoys cooking, watching crime documentaries, and traveling. Brianna's favorite academic tip is "Highlighting, underlining, and bolding are the keys to remembering important notes."

 

Brooke Levy

Brooke's hometown is Boynton Beach, Florida. She is a senior majoring in Political Science. In addition to being a Peer Academic Leader, Brooke is president of Jewish Girls of FGCU, president of Students Impacting Students, and president of FGCU Scholars. In her free time, Brooke enjoys playing tennis and coaching special olympics. Brooke's favorite academic tip is "Don't procrastinate."

 

Lauren Penland

Lauren's hometown is Miami, Florida. She is a sophomore majoring in Biology. In addition to being a Peer Academic Leader, Lauren is involved with FGCU Equestrian Club, Chi Alpha, Programming Board, Latin American Student Organization, Hammock Club, and more! In her free time, Lauren enjoys horseback riding, baking, and photography. Lauren's favorite academic tip is "Stay motivated and don't be afraid to ask for help from instructors, peers, and other campus resources!"
