Professor Stefaniuk recently completed his Ph.D. in German Studies while teaching and researching during a Pre-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Notre Dame in 2011-2012. His main research interests of immigration, religious studies, and cultural history are present in his dissertation, which explores the writings and life of a German-American priest and his influence on community and identity formation among German-American Catholic diaspora in late 19th century America. His teaching interests include German language at all levels, as well as 19th and 20th century German culture and literature. Professor Stefaniuk spent many years living and studying abroad in Germany and Austria, having worked as an English teacher, translator, and Berlin tour guide. He enjoys travelling, languages, outdoor activities, basketball, tennis, and swimming.
