Kristen Sonneborn is the Principal Bassoonist of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. She is currently serving a two-year term as bassoon liaison to the Executive Committee of the International Double Reed Society.  She has also played Assistant Principal Bassoon with the San Antonio Symphony and the Florida Symphony Orchestras.  She received a B.M. in performance from St. Olaf College and her M.M. degree in performance from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.  She was twice a fellowship recipient to the Tanglewood Music Center where she performed under Seiji Ozawa, Leonard Slatkin, Andre Previn and Leonard Bernstein.  Ms. Sonneborn has played in orchestras for Luciano Pavrotti, Andrea Bocelli, John Williams and Lalo Schifrin as well as Doc Severinsen, Bobby McFerrin, and Garrison Keillor.  As a soloist, she has performed concerti by Hummel, Hindemith, Lars-Erik Larsson, Mozart, Vanhal, Vivaldi, and Weber, including his “Andante and Hungarian Rondo” on Austrian National Radio live from Salzburg in 1986.  She has been an adjunct instructor at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas State University San Marco, and Edison College.  She may be heard with the San Antonio Symphony on the Warner Bros. label, with the Naples Philharmonic on the Telarc label, with the Hot Springs Music Festival on the Naxos label and most recently with bassoonist Robert Williams on his CD featuring the music of Julius Weissenborn. Since 1993, she has spent each July as a member of the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra in Jackson, WY.  She was a Mentor Artist at the Hot Springs Music Festival from its inception in 1995 until 2006.
