Prof. Paul Asfour has lived in Florida most of his life. He attended Lee County public schools and was graduated from Fort Myers High School. He earned his A.A. degree from Edison College and his B.A. from the University of South Florida with two majors, accounting and vocational education. He also earned his M.B.A. from the University of South Florida and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law.

Professor Asfour is a member of the Florida Bar and is also a Florida C.P.A. He has practiced both law and accounting in Lee County and has previously taught at the University of South Florida, Florida Southern College and Edison College.

Prof. Asfour served on the Cape Coral City Council from November 2000 to April 2005 and was instrumental in the establishment of the City of Cape Coral Municipal Charter School System. He was a founding member of the Municipal Charter School Governing Board and served on that Board until March 2006.

While a member of the Cape Coral City Council, he proposed and promoted the purchase of 180 acres of land for the future establishment of an Academic Village, which is planned to house branch campuses of colleges and universities, and perhaps a municipal charter high school.

Prof. Asfour was recently appointed by Florida Attorney General to serve as an arbitrator on the New Car Arbitration Program (Lemon Law).

He resides in Cape Coral with his wife Karen.
