The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program provides students with the entry-level education to become PAs and practice medicine on healthcare teams with physicians and other providers.  PA practice includes comprehensive patient care incorporating patient interviewing and history-taking, examination and evaluation, diagnosis, treatment plan development and implementation, patient follow-up, and patient education and counseling.  Upon graduation, students will be eligible for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Asistants (NCCPA).  Additional information is available at   https://www.fgcu.edu/mariebcollege/healthsciences/physicianassistantstudies-mpas.aspx.

Program Accreditation

The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the Florida Gulf Coast University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Florida Gulf Coast University.

Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program's ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to denostrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.

Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status.  It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
