Dr. MARY A. KROME is a faculty member of the Management Department in the Lutgert College of Business at Florida Gulf Coast University. She earned a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia, an MBA from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University, and a Bachelor degree Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University Chicago. Her research focuses on organizational processes associated with strategy formulation, global value chains and business development and change. Her doctoral dissertation, The Performance of Difference, was awarded the Pitney Bowes Outstanding Dissertation Thesis from SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management in the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

 Dr. Krome teaches Business Strategy, Business Planning, and Organization Development in graduate and undergraduate programs at Florida Gulf Coast University. She previously taught Business Policy, Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics, and Organization Theory and Change at the University of Virginia, University of Rhode Island, Eastern University, and Loyola University Chicago. She has extensive experience in the design and delivery of multidisciplinary research and training programs for numerous global firms and academic institutions including the Asian Pacific School of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Inha University in Korea and the International School of Engineering at LeHavre University in France. 

Prior to beginning her career in academia, Dr. Krome held various strategic management positions for such companies as Dart & Kraft (parent of Kraft Foods) and Baxter Travenol Laboratories. In 1989, she was honored as a Kentucky Colonel for her work integrating supplementary material into middle school science programs. She embarked upon two entrepreneurial ventures; as co-founder of a Chicago-based management consulting firm and as co-founder and executive director of a student driven research and consulting association.

Dr. Krome was born and raised in Wisconsin and lived most of her adult life in the Chicago area. She is active in politics and has a strong interest in the current political economy; having written a column for the Kenosha News as well as organized and co-facilitated Wisconsin’s First Congressional District debate between Representative Paul Ryan and his 2008 opponent, and an Economic Forum for the Clausen Center for World Business at Carthage College in Kenosha.
