Job Description: The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County is seeking volunteer classroom assistants, sports team coaches, tutors, and mentors for their after school and summer program. As the largest youth development organization in Collier County, The Boys & Girls Club provides academic, leadership, physical education and fine arts programming to over 4000 students from grades 1-12 throughout Collier County.

The Classroom Assistants support staff in various program areas including; stem and project based learning classrooms, game rooms, gym, and the kitchen. These volunteers help monitor and communicate with Club members as they assist the staff in making the Club a fun, safe, and educational experience. Classroom Assistants are a valuable asset to the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County serving as role models for the younger members of the Club while gaining personal satisfaction and life skills. Classroom Assistants work together with staff members as a team to provide a positive place for Boys & Girls Club members.

Volunteer Tutors provide students with extra help on an individual basis and in small groups in academic subject including; Reading, Language Arts, Math, and Science. Students pursuing a college degree in education, retired teachers, and other community volunteers with a variety of career backgrounds assist in tutoring our members. The program is open to students of all ages, elementary, middle and high school. We are open 5 days a week during the school year from 3 to 6 pm.

Volunteer Mentors provide our high school members the opportunity to interact one on one with caring adults on a regular basis. Volunteer mentors are needed as positive role models from the community. One-on-one mentoring sessions take place once a week for approximately one hour. Training and mentoring activities will be provided to those who volunteer for this program. Mentoring sessions would include such areas as academic achievement through homework guidnace, exploring career goals, applying for colleges and scholarships, solving life issues and improving self-esteem. Commitment and consistency are important to this program. Interested volunteers will need to apply through the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County and undergo an interview process and a background check.

Volunteer Baseball, Basketball, Flag Football, Cheerleading, and Volleyball Coaches. This volunteer position requires one-two weekday evenings and some Saturday commitment for games. Applicants can choose to just coach one season. Experience playing the sport at the HS, college, or recreational level is helpful. The volunteer must have an understanding of the sports rules and be able to conduct practices, drills, and games with school aged children and teens. Coaches must also have the ability to represent the Boys & Girls Club in a professional and appropriate manner displaying proper coaching etiquette. Applicants must be 18 years and older and must undergo a background check.

Lifeguards are needed at Boys & Girls Club of Collier County from June 6th-August 5th. This will be a seasonal volunteer opportunity, up to 10 hours a week, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Experience working with children is encouraged. MUST have current Red Cross Lifeguard certification in Lifeguarding and/ or Red Cross WSI Certification. Must have ability to pass drug test and background screening.

Benefits Offered: At the completion of your service learning program, BGCCC will provide a signed letter on BGCCC letterhead stating your total hours worked and a summary of your services provided. During the summer program, volunteers working 6 or more hour shifts will receive lunch.

*Be screened by Professional Club staff.
*Undergo a background check (18 years and older)
*Attend an orientation on the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County volunteer policies and procedures.
* Read the volunteer Handbook which illustrates volunteer policies and procedures of the Club.
*Sign a letter of agreement verifying that the procedures and expectations are understood.
