Details: Miles of Smiles Foundation runs Miles Ranch, a beautiful, old Florida twenty acre equine facility. Miles Ranch specializes in equine assisted psychotherapy (EAP)and equine assisted learning (EAL) for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our focus is on wellness and reintegration of the veteran and the family. All work for veterans and their families are provided pro bono.
We also work with Special Needs children.

We are continuing to expand the program to better serve our veterans. We have recently added our sixth therapy horse and continue to build new paddocks and add fencing at Miles Ranch.
Job Description: Barn Support - mucking stalls, cleaning

Horse Support - grooming & Feeding

Sidewalker - physically assist the rider (during riding, mounting and dismounting), help the rider guide their horse during the lesson, and assist the rider in following the directions of the instructor as necessary. The amount of assistance is dependent on each riderís abilities. Sidewalkers must be at least 14 years old.

Landscaping - edging, tree trimming, mowing, weed control

Fundraising - grant writing, collecting donations, working at public events

Minor construction- fence building and maintenance, barn repairs, irragation
Times of Work: Weekdays daytime, Weekends daytime

Benefits Offered: If you are interested in volunteering with our program, please fill out the volunteer sign-up packet from our website. We can then get you scheduled to come in for an orientation.

We have six therapy horses that we use in the equine assisted psychotherapy program If you like horses, old Florida, and the outdoors, then this is for you!
Additional Information: Volunteers must wear closed toed shoes. Hat, long pants, and sunscreen are recommended.
