Curriculum Requirements

Current Honors students (students admitted in the Spring 2017 semester and previous semesters) will be able to meet with an Academic Advisor during the Fall 2017 semester to discuss options for transitioning between the Honors curricula detailed below.  

Honors College Curriculum

Primarily for First-Time-in-College (FTIC) students. 

  • Complete 24 credit hours of Honors coursework, with at least 9 credit hours of upper-division courses in the major approved by Honors advising

  • Complete 2 Honors Experiences from the following: Liberal Arts, Research, Service, or Study Away/Abroad

  • FTIC students complete Honors First Year Sequence

  • Graduate with a 3.50 or higher cumulative (institutional) GPA

  • Complete 4 Honors event credits each Spring and Fall semester

Honors Program Curriculum

Primarily for students enrolling in Honors after earning 30 credit hours.

  • Complete 12 credit hours of Honors coursework (any class, any level)

  • Complete 2 Honors Experiences from the following: Liberal Arts, Service, Study Away/Abroad, Research, Contracts

  • FTIC students complete Honors First Year Sequence

  • Graduate with a 3.50 or higher cumulative (institutional) GPA

  • Complete 4 Honors event credits each Spring and Fall semester

Honors in the Major Curriculum

Primarily for students enrolling in Honors after earning 30 credit hours.

  • Complete 9 credit hours of Honors coursework in upper-division courses in the major approved by Honors advising

  • Complete 1 Honors Experience related to the major, from the following: Research, Service, or Study Away/Abroad

  • Graduate with a 3.50 or higher cumulative (institutional) GPA

  • Complete 4 Honors event credits each Spring and Fall semester
