Housing and Residence Life

Director's Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Office of Housing & Residence Life Web site. I am pleased about your interest in our University and your interest in living on-campus. We believe that campus living is an essential component for an enriching college experience. Even if your family lives nearby, it's well worth spending your college years living on campus.

At Florida Gulf Coast University, living on campus means more than just having a place to sleep. Our primary purpose is to provide a safe, well-maintained place for students to live while attending our university. We also strive to create a living environment that is conducive for the personal and academic growth of our students during their college years. Our department provides numerous resources and opportunities for students to develop a strong connection to the university. You will also have the opportunity to meet students from diverse backgrounds and cultures and develop new friendships and relationships. We currently employ over 100 full-time and student staff who live and work in our communities in order to promote a student's success and respond to the needs of our residents.

Studies have demonstrated that students who live on campus are more likely to earn higher grades, become more involved in campus activities, and are more likely to graduate than those who live off-campus. A key to their success and satisfaction is involvement. We urge students to become active members of their community. This is accomplished by getting to know their neighbors, attending programs and events, interacting with others at meals, getting to know the staff in the building, and serving on one of the many committees, councils and associations that exist at FGCU's North Lake Village and South Village.

Take a moment to browse the remainder of our Web site and please contact our office with any questions or special requests you may have. Living on campus provides many opportunities for you to connect to the University. We hope you will take the opportunity to join us and live on-campus here at Florida Gulf Coast University.
