Dr. Christopher Blakely

Christopher Blakely was born in Columbus, Ohio and remained in Ohio as he pursued his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. At Mount Union,
he earned a Bachelor of Arts as a dual major in Business Administration and Sports Management. Dr. Blakely later earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Dr. Blakely is supported by his loving wife Camilla and son Israel as they embark on this new role in Southwest Florida.  For the past six years, he and his family resided in Kentucky where he worked at two separate universities where his work focused on academic initiatives and retention strategies to aide under-represented minority students.  During his time in Kentucky, Dr. Blakely completed his doctoral work at Eastern Kentucky University where earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
Given his wide variety of experiences, he is driven to improve students’ lives through motivation, inspiration, and excellence. Throughout his experience in higher education, Dr. Blakely has been able to make observations and provide recommendations for additional services to aid the effort of the student experience, increasing retention and positively impacting graduation rates.   
Through his work with students, Mr. Blakely gives his best effort to guide, support, and challenge students as they engage with the different academic and social aspects of college life. What counts in life is not the mere fact that we lived it, but it is what difference we have made in the lives of others. Mr. Blakely’s intentions are never to receive awards or accolades, but rather create an environment where people are uncomfortable with average, rather prepared for the pursuit of excellence, as great things never come from comfort zones.

Ysatiz Pinero

Assistant Director, Multicultural Development Initiatives

Ysatiz M. Piñero was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Miami and Cape Coral, FL. Ysa, as most know her, earned a dual Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminal Forensic Studies right here at Florida Gulf Coast University and her Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Florida International University in Miami, FL. Ysa has experience in Undergraduate Admissions as a Counselor and Recruiter. She also has experience in advising student organizations and facilitating trainings, programs, and retreats focused on multicultural and leadership development. 
 
Lana Clark

Lana Clark was born in Pennsylvania.  As a U.S. Navy wife, Lana lived in various locations, and has years of experience working for County Government as Chief Deputy - Finance Office, managing payroll, budgets, and fund accounting.  She processed employee new hires, onboarding, and employee benefits administration.  Lana settled in Virginia, and worked for Federal Government as Administrative Specialist for 66 Scientists, and their research units within the Ecosystem Division across the U.S. for the U.S. Geological Survey.  Lana moved to Florida in January, 2014 and started working for Florida Gulf Coast University in 2016.
