Eagles Educate/ACEI Student Group

The Eagles Educate/ACEI is a student branch of the Association for Childhood Education International. Our student group was established in the fall of 2004 at the Florida Gulf Coast University. In 2005 and 2008 Eagles Educate/ACEI student branch was acknowledged with the “Branch Excellence Award”.

MISSION OF ACEI: “Our mission is to promote and support in the global community the optimal education and development of children, from birth through early adolescence, and to influence the professional growth of educators and the efforts of others who are commited to the needs of children in a changing society.”

Goals for ACEI:

  • To promote the inherent rights, education and well-being of all children in their home, school and community.
  • To work for desirable conditions, programs and practices for children from infancy through early adolescence.
  • To bring into active cooperation all individuals and groups concerned with children.
  • To raise the standard of preparation for those actively involved with the care and development of children.
  • To encourage continuous professional growth of educators.
  • To focus the public's attention on the rights and needs of children and the ways various programs must be adjusted to fit those rights and needs.

Meetings are determined at the beginning of the semester based on schedule that fits to the majority of members.


Fall 2010, awarded the Chapter Excellence Award in recognition of the chapter's work for and with children.

  • World Teacher’s Day: Eagles Educate creates certificates for all of the COE professors in honor of World Teacher’s Day. We held a voting session in which students were able to vote for their favorites COE professors. 
  • Real Deal: We will have three first-year teachers and one block 5 intern talking and sharing information about the transition from being a student to a teacher. Date and time TBA.
  • Announcing the Global Summit on Childhood March 10-13, 2014. A “Global Summit on Childhood” conference will be held in Vancouver, Canada in spring 2014, presented by the Association of Childhood Education International. The goal of this conference is to explore the current state of childhood, including issues affecting education and mental and physical well-being, from international, cross-cultural, and cross-disciplinary perspectives.
  • Eagle Expo: We take part in Eagle Expo to inform prospective students about our branch and the many events that we hold throughout the year.
  • Plus more to come!
    ACEI Annual Conference will take place March 10th- 13th, 2014 in Vancouver, Canada. This provides students with an opportunity for professional development. Students can also be presenters. Students can choose to present any past projects, lesson plans, units, etc. that they feel proud of and would like to share with other professionals. Kappa Delta Pi (KDP)

Omega Epsilon Chapter is located on Florida Gulf Coast University campus.

Chapter Membership

Membership in the chapter of Kappa Delta Pi depends on the following criteria:

  • Intent to continue in the field of education
  • Completing a Pre-application is required for membership

At the beginning of each semester, students are recruited for membership. Applications will be available throughout the College of Education and current KDP members will visit classes at the start of each semester to recruit for membership. Students are required to have the following requirements:

  • Leadership attributes
  • Undergraduates - must have first-term sophomore standing (30 semester hours), a GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or its equivalent), and at least 12 semester hours (or equivalent) in education courses programmed, in progress, or completed.
  • Graduate students - must have regular admission status in an accredited institution, six or more semester hours (or its equivalent) in that institution, at least 12 semester hours (or its equivalent) of education courses, and a graduate - level GPA of at least 3.25 out of 4.0.

*Students may be required to be interviewed by the faculty counselor for membership.*

Secondary Teachers Advocating Readiness (STAR)

STAR is an education club at Florida Gulf Coast University. We hold meetings and offer events based on what students need to learn to become a great educator. We focus on grades 6-12 in any subject area.

Our Mission: “The mission of STAR is to promote the teaching profession and enhance future educators’ vision, knowledge, and resources by offering forms of professional development. This club will provide opportunities to secondary education students that will help them grow in their particular fields of study.”
