Athletic Training (B.S.A.T.)

Prospective Athletic Training (PATS)

The Prospective Athletic Training Students (PATS) program serves an important function in the Athletic Training curriculum at Florida Gulf Coast University. This program has been developed for any undergraduate student interested in pursuing a career in Athletic Training. Prospective Athletic Training students are able to examine the FGCU Athletic Training room by observing in the Athletic Training room. Along with clinical experiences, the program is also designed to provide instruction on the introductory principles of Athletic Training through monthly in-services throughout the year.

The PATS program provides an opportunity to meet and work with the Athletic Training staff members and current students in the Athletic Training Program. The PATS meeting schedule is determined each semester. Students will be contacted by the PATS director for the initial meeting date and time. All interested students should attend this meeting to become familiar with the FGCU ATP and the PATS program.

PATS participants will be able to complete observation hours. Observation hours can be completed in a variety of settings including the FGCU Athletic Training Rooms. However, please be advised that all students completing observation hours will be required to complete a formal blood-borne pathogen training and submit verification of completion to the PATS Director. Information and directions for completing this training has been provided for your use.
