The mission of Eagle View Orientation (EVO) is to facilitate the smooth transition of new students into the intellectual, cultural, and social climate of Florida Gulf Coast University. Our goal is to enhance the overall university experience by facilitating student learning and development, introducing the institution's educational opportunities and expectations, identifying student responsibilities, and supporting our students' parents and families.
Eagle View Orientation is designed to allow incoming students to learn all about Florida Gulf Coast University: the offices that support student learning and success, the opportunities for involvement and leadership on campus, and the academic expectations that come with being a college student. Students will learn about academic requirements, the coursework needed for their degree, and will work with an academic counselor before they register for classes. As such, Eagle View Orientation serves as the gateway to the college experience, while enhancing the developmental process.
The Eagle View Orientation program incorporates programming rooted in our understanding of the unique developmental issues of college students and their families. The program promotes student learning by incorporating themes of responsibility, engagement, and leadership. In addition, Eagle View Orientation introduces students to faculty and student affairs professionals, provides an overview of campus resources and student activities, and imparts academic standards and expectations while integrating students both socially and academically into a community of learners.
Overnight accommodations are provided (on the evening of Day One) for First Time in College (FTIC) students attending a two-day Eagle View Orientation program. Even if you will not be living on campus while attending FGCU, this is an excellent way to spend time with your peers, meet a few new people, and begin to form some new friendships! Please note:
We DO NOT provide overnight accommodations for parents, guests, or friends. These individuals are expected to make their own arrangements for their stay in Fort Myers.
For a list of local hotel accomodations, visit our Lodging page.
Housing assignments for the overnight stay are assigned at random during the EVO program.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not accomodate roommate requests.
