Mental Health Workshop Offered at FGCU, Open to Professionals Throughout SW FL

FORT MYERS, FL - Professionals in all areas of mental health, including counselors, marriage and family therapists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and psychologists, are invited to attend a Florida Gulf Coast University workshop "Clinical Directions in Mental Health for the 21st Century: Meeting Client Needs and Third Party Payer Requirements" from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 in Howard Hall Room 111. The workshop provides six contact hours of Continuing Education Credit to professionals in the areas noted above.

The workshops will present mental health professionals with short-term solution-focused treatment modalities that can increase the effectiveness and quality of their clinical interventions. Also addressed will be specific treatment protocols for mood and anxiety disorders, stress-related disorders, addictions, and medical problems with a psychological component. Participants will be actively engaged in the workshop through case studies.

Fred Eppsteiner, MSW, LCSW is the presenter. He is president of the Banyan Center and is a licensed clinical social worker. His extensive training and expertise in cognitive behavior therapy, hypnotherapy and social skills development are well documented. He is the former Director of Family Treatment at the Mt. Hope Family Center at the University of Rochester, past Director of Outpatient Services at the David Lawrence Center and has been in private practice since 1992.

Registration for the general public is $55 and after April 25, $65. Registration for students is $35. The program is cosponsored by the FGCU Department of Occupational Therapy, FGCU Division of Social Work, FGCU School of Nursing and the National Association of Social Workers Southwest Unit.
