"Effective Proposal Writing and Identifying Grant Opportunities" Workshop Offered by FGCU Florida Institute of Government

FORT MYERS, FL - Managers and employees from both the private and public sectors are invited to attend a one-day workshop “Effective Proposal Writing and Identifying Grant Opportunities” presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8. The workshop will be held at the Center for Professional Development at Edison Community College.

With philanthropy at an all-time high, it is wise to take advantage of various grant opportunities that are available. This workshop will focus on how to research potential funding sources in order to match grant opportunities with organizational needs. It will examine the proposal writing process and provide instruction related to writing successful proposals for your organization.

Mindy Collier is instructor for the program. She has more than 20 years of development experience and currently owns a small business that specializes in grant research, writing and program development. She is a technical assistance specialist for the FGCU Institute of Government where she assists the College of Professional Studies faculty in developing partnerships within the community and assists in the research and writing of grant proposals. She is the former Director of Resource Development for the Florida Association of Counties. She has raised more than $15 million through grant-writing efforts.

The central purpose of the Institute is to help promote superior performance in government and nonprofit organizations through quality training, consulting and technical assistance. As an accredited comprehensive public university, FGCU addresses the higher educational needs of Southwest Florida and provides a learning-centered environment that offers high quality educational opportunities for the general public, such as administratively hosting the Institute.
