FGCU CLI Sponsors "Communication with the Media Workshop for CEOs, Executives
FORT MYERS, FL - As Americans have seen in recent news, corporate leadership must be adequately prepared to face the tough questions of the media when an issue arises. The Center for Leadership and Innovation at Florida Gulf Coast University is offering a one-day workshop for CEOs and other executive team members to learn about presenting yourself and your organization's message to the media from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 in Broadcast Building Room 111.
"The training will be interactive using real props and real equipment, and will include role-play interviews and videotaping for learning and development," associate professor and director of sponsored projects and programs at the CLI, Arthur J. Rubens, said.
Content will include how to manage your interview, instruction on how to effectively tell your story, how to create your corporate or organization's message, and how to control question and answer sessions.
Course leaders are Bob Parkinson of Northwestern University and Eileen Parkinson of Trident Communications in Chicago. Bob has over 20 years experience with executive communication programs and is the author of several successful books, including How to Get People to Do Things Your Way.
Eileen has over 20 years experience in communications as a broadcast announcer, documentary producer, news anchor, freelance actor and a spokeswoman for Fortune 500 companies.
"Communication with the Media" is part of CLI's professional development series. Attendees can earn .7 Continuing Education Units. Registration fee per participant is $225 and drops to $200 for teams of three or more from the same organization.
