"Management Styles & Team Building" Workshop Offered by FGCU Florida Institute of Government

FORT MYERS, FL - Managers and employees from both the private and public sectors are invited to attend a one-day course “Management Styles and Team Building” presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7. The course will be held at the Center for Professional Development at Edison Community College.

The course will explain how to analyze management and leadership styles, clarify roles within the organization and teach how to build an effective team.

·Delegate effectively
·Understand team dynamics
·Get people to work together toward common goals
·Communicate your expectations to those you supervise

Dr. David Kelley is instructor for the program. He is a native of Chattanooga, Tenn. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee, a master’s degree from the Divinity School of Duke University and a Doctor of Ministry degree in organization development from the San Francisco Theological Seminary in California. He is an ordained United Methodist minister and the founder and former pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Coral. Kelley is a Florida-licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Fort Myers. He is a licensed mediator for the state of Florida and has been a trainer for the Institute of Government for more than 15 years.

The central purpose of the Institute is to help promote superior performance in government and nonprofit organizations through quality training, consulting and technical assistance. As an accredited comprehensive public university, FGCU addresses the higher educational needs of Southwest Florida and provides a learning-centered environment that offers high quality educational opportunities, such as administratively hosting the Institute.
