"Managing Your Volunteer Workforce" Workshop Offered by FGCU Florida Institute of Government

FORT MYERS, FL - Managers and employees from the non-profit sector are invited to attend a half-day course “Managing Your Volunteer Workforce” presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12. The course will be held at the Center for Professional Development at Edison Community College.

The course will teach how to develop a dependable workforce of volunteers that enhances your organization and accelerates its purpose.

·Ten steps to empowerment (and dedicated workers)
·Orientation meetings and follow-up
·Providing feedback and open communication

Carol Simonds is instructor for the program. She is an Internal Performance Improvement consultant with Lee Memorial Health System. She served as Lee Memorial’s director of Volunteer Resources for more than 15 years, managing a volunteer corps of approximately 1,500 volunteers annually. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism/communication from the University of Florida and her master’s degree in business from the University of South Florida.

The central purpose of the Institute is to help promote superior performance in government and nonprofit organizations through quality training, consulting and technical assistance. As an accredited comprehensive public university, FGCU addresses the higher educational needs of Southwest Florida and provides a learning-centered environment that offers high quality educational opportunities, such as administratively hosting the Institute.
