Federal Compliance Seminar Offered for Healthcare Workers; Mandated Deadline for Certification is April 2003

FORT MYERS, FL - Pangaea Education Systems has developed a two-day training seminar with Florida Gulf Coast University to help the medical and dental healthcare industry attain federal HIPAA compliance certification by the April 2003 deadline.

The FGCU Center for Leadership and Innovation hosts four Pangaea HIPAA seminars on May 8/9, May 13/14, May 16/17 and May 23/24 at the CLI in Bonita Springs.

HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. The federal law, designed to protect the privacy and security of customers’ health information, requires healthcare providers such as doctors and dentists to designate one individual to be responsible for HIPAA compliance and serve as a “privacy officer,” but all employees are required to go through HIPAA compliance training.

Organizations that do not comply face civil and criminal penalties.

Pangaea and FGCU offer a total compliance solution, including all required training and certification for every level of healthcare professional and staff. Further, the partnership provides an efficient and cost-effective blended learning system to train each organization’s Medical Chief Privacy Officer, or mCPO™, or Dental Chief Privacy Officer, or dCPO™

Attendees who successfully complete the course receive a course completion certificate from FGCU, validating continuing education units, or CEUs. The cost per person is $895.
