Bonita Springs Student Earns National Honor Society Scholarship
FORT MYERS, FL - The oldest and largest freshman national honor society in America, Phi Eta Sigma, awarded elementary education junior from Bonita Springs Carol Dalia a $1,000 undergraduate scholarship for academic year 2002-03.
Dalia maintained a 3.8 grade point average and has been named to the Florida Gulf Coast University Dean’s List and President’s List.
In addition to membership in Phi Eta Sigma, she is vice president of Kappa Delta Phi Honor Society and a member of the Golden Key Honor Society. She is also a member of the FGCU Chorus and a recipient of the National Dean’s List Award.
“Carol’s accomplishments provide an outstanding example of balancing academic achievement with engagement in leadership and service,” director of First Year Advising Alice Brunner said. “We applaud her contributions to both the University and the community.”
Phi Eta Sigma’s goal is to encourage and reward academic excellence among freshmen in institutions of higher learning. Academic achievement in the freshman year determines lifetime membership.
FGCU established a Phi Eta Sigma chapter in spring 1999. This year, the Society granted over $160,000 in awards to outstanding student members across the United States.
