"Effective Proposal Writing" Workshop Offered by FGCU Florida Institute of Government

FORT MYERS, FL - Managers and employees from both the private and public sectors are invited to attend a full-day course “Effective Proposal Writing” presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University as part of its Professional Development Series from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at the FGCU Broadcast Building Room 111.

With philanthropy at an all-time high, it is wise to take advantage of various grant opportunities that are available. This workshop will focus on how to research potential funding sources in order to match grant opportunities with organizational needs. It will examine the proposal writing process and provide instruction related to writing successful proposals for your organization.

Shelley Robertson is instructor for the program. She has prepared local, state and federal grants for a variety of organizations as well as integrated funding plans. She has been a grant reviewer for state and local funding.

Robertson was formerly a corporate trainer and consultant, co-developing cross-functional training programs (corporate universities) for multinational firms and similar programs for international professional trade organizations. She joined the nonprofit and government sector in 1996 as director of Community Involvement for Heart of Florida United Way. She has presented hundreds of seminars on a variety of topics for nonprofit, government, foundation and public/private organizations. She is a published author and holds a Bachelor of Arts in business and a Master of Arts in applied economics.

The central purpose of the Institute is to help promote superior performance in government and nonprofit organizations through quality training, consulting and technical assistance.

As an accredited comprehensive public university, FGCU addresses the higher educational needs of Southwest Florida and provides a learning-centered environment that offers high quality educational opportunities for the general public, such as administratively hosting the Institute.
