FGCU's First National Juried Art Exhibit Opens Feb. 28

FORT MYERS, FL - “FRONTIERS: i2artContemporary 2003,” Florida Gulf Coast University’s first national juried art exhibition, opens with a reception from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28 in the Arts Complex art gallery.

The exhibit is on display through Saturday, April 5, and promises to be an exceptional selection of contemporary work, visiting professor and gallery director Kate Kramer said.

Featured artists include video artist Cosimo Cavallaro of Brooklyn, N.Y., and painter Robert Flynn of Miami Beach. Over 90 artists from around the world submitted entries that addressed the theme of “frontiers” as a critical or dominant element in the composition.

Director of the Rubell Family Collection in Miami, Mark Coetzee, juried the exhibition. “Many of these artists were no doubt motivated by the desire to have their work reviewed by Coetzee, who directs an extensive collection of work dating from the 1960s to the present, Kramer said.

High-resolution images of Flynn’s work accepted into the exhibit are available to the media at .

FRONTIERS: i2artContemporary 2003 is sponsored by i2art, LLC, a business resource for artists. An online version of the exhibit will be available at the i2art web site .

FGCU Arts Complex art gallery admission is free and it is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays observed by the University.

Participation, membership and volunteer opportunities are available.
