"Build an Award-Winning Team" Workshop Offered by FGCU Florida Institute of Government

FORT MYERS, FL - Managers and employees from both the private and public sectors are invited to attend a half-day course “Build an Award-Winning Team” presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University as part of its Professional Development Series 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 3 in 111 Broadcast Building.

The interactive course introduces proven tips and strategies to help team members and leaders build new teams or strengthen existing teams. Through the use of real world examples and how-to exercises, participants will collaborate with each other and work on skills to build a high functioning team.


     Establish group goals to kick off the team the right way

     Build a dynamite team

     Strengthen team communication

     Use action learning for even more success

Ryan Combs is instructor for the course. He is the founder and owner of Teamwork in Action and has 11 years of teambuilding, leadership development, management, organizational coaching and active military experience. He has worked with such diverse groups as Fortune 500 companies, conference resorts, financial institutions, police officers, adjudicated youth, military organizations, church groups and youth community leaders.

Combs received his master’s degree in organizational training and development from Barry University, is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School and is an instructor of the Seven Habits for Highly Effective People.

The central purpose of the Institute is to help promote superior performance in government and nonprofit organizations through quality training, consulting and technical assistance.

As an accredited comprehensive public university, FGCU addresses the higher educational needs of Southwest Florida and provides a learning-centered environment that offers high quality educational opportunities for the general public, such as administratively hosting the Institute.
