Delta Society Offers National Training in Port Charlotte June 5

FORT MYERS, FL - The Delta Society in collaboration with the Gulf Coast Pet Partners and the Florida Gulf Coast University Center for Positive Aging offers national caliber training for therapists, social workers, nurses and other health care providers Saturday, June 5 at the Charlotte County Cultural Center.

The Animal-Assisted Therapy Applications I Course includes methods of integrating trained therapy animals into practice. A Delta Society-trained instructor will teach the interactive course, engaging students immediately in hands-on exercises. Participants will receive a student guide for later reference. Deadline to register is Friday, May 21 and course fee is $60.

Continuing Education Units are available for programs by an internationally approved healthcare CEU provider.

The same weekend, Delta Society is offering "Pooches in Paradise" welcome reception with dessert and a pet partner demonstration, 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., June 4 for $10, and a R.E.A.D. Workshop, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., June 5 for $110.

A Team Evaluator Practicum is offered 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 6 for $135. To attend, participants must be a registered Pet Partner for two years. The two-part program requires an advance home study course before attending the practicum.
