Center for Technology Education Offers New Certified Technology Manager Course Beginning May 31

FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Gulf Coast University Center for Technology Education offers a new Certified Technology Manager course to encompass business, leadership and technology proficiency beginning 6 p.m. Monday, May 31 at the FGCU Center for Leadership and Innovation, 12751 Westlinks Dr. in Fort Myers. The 33-week course meets for four hours each day on Mondays and Tuesdays.

"The 'Certified Technology Manager' encompasses business, leadership and technology together. Many of the Information Technology jobs available today have required individuals to have a broader skill base," CTE technical program manager Patrick Reid said.

"Now you are required to know budgeting, project management, hardware, network administration, routers and the highest knowledge in demand - security. With downsizing in the Information Technology Industry, there are fewer jobs available today for specialized technological skill-sets."

The variety of skills becoming necessary for individual professionals to possess makes the Certified Technology Manager course the answer to the needs of the IT industry, while simultaneously preparing technology specialists for the future.

"We have taken the course a step further by adding business and leadership into the equation. This will help individuals meet the demand of the next generation of Information Technology management and will be the first steps towards becoming a Chief Technology Officer or Chief Information Officer," Reid said.

After completing the Certified Technology Manager course and exams, participants will hold seven certifications: four vendor-neutral and three vendor-specific.

The program of instruction consists of Introduction to Server+, Network+, MCP, MCSA, CISCO CCNA, Security+, IT Project+, Business and Leadership.

"The CTM will ensure that you will stay in front of technology, not searching for away to catch up," Reid said.
