FGCU Professor Presents Research at the University of Oxford

FORT MYERS, FL - The University of Oxford has invited Pamella Seay, associate professor of law at Florida Gulf Coast University, to participate in the prestigious Oxford Round Table later this month to consider major issues in contemporary educational policy in the United States, the United Kingdom and other selected countries.

"Being invited to speak at this distinguished institution is an extraordinary honor for me, as well as for Florida Gulf Coast University," Seay said.

Established in 1989, the purpose of the Oxford Round Table is to promote human advancement and understanding through the improvement of education. The five-day forum creates a collegial "think-tank" atmosphere in the historic city of Oxford.

Several screening processes identify selected persons to be invited from both public and private sectors. Past Round Tables have hosted governors, senators, government ministers and representatives from the international education and business communities.

The subject of this year's Round Table is criminal law and justice.

Seay has most recently presented programs in legal ethics through CLE International. Previously, she presented her research at international programs in Italy, Switzerland, Brazil and China.

She travels to the Harris Manchester College in the University of Oxford for the program March 26-31 to present "A Critical Balance: The USA PATRIOT Act Fighting Terrorism, Preserving Freedom."

The results of the Oxford Round Table deliberations are published and made available to policymakers and academic libraries around the world.

For more information, media representatives should contact Seay at (239) 590-7830 or
