New Master's Degree in Criminal Forensic Studies Offered on Part-time Basis

FORT MYERS, FL - The Division of Justice Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University announces the new Master of Science in criminal forensic studies that was launched in February is now offered to students on a part-time basis in response to student need.

"It was originally established as a full time MS but there have been a number of criminal justice professionals in the area that have demonstrated an interest in the degree but cannot leave their positions to pursue a fulltime course of study," professor and coordinator of Criminal Forensic Studies Duane L. Dobbert said.

FGCU accepts applications through July 1 for the MS program and reviews submissions on a rolling admission basis, even before receipt of GRE scores.

In addition, students may concurrently fulfill undergraduate course requirements for admission to the graduate program while enrolled in certain graduate level courses in the program.

The MS builds upon the Bachelor of Science in criminal forensic studies. Similar to the BS, the MS is an interdisciplinary degree focused on making graduates competitive in the marketplace and fulfilling needs left vacant by programs at other universities around the state and nation. The MS degree prepares students for work and research in advanced positions with specific skill sets.

The 42 credit-hour degree program has three areas of concentration. Students in the program select one concentration from forensic behavior analyst, death investigator in criminalistics, or death investigator in human identity and trauma analysis.

Additional program information and applications are available on the Web at .
