Media Invited to Forensic Accounting, Ethics Class; Reformed Convict Speaks to MBA Students

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Lutgert College of Business invites the media to attend a forensic accounting and ethics class given by Carl Pacini, Marguerite and Guy Howard Professor of Business and professor of Accounting at FGCU, to hear reformed convict Walter A. Pavlo Jr. speak to students about personal ethics in business, 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 15 in Academic V, Room 112.

Pavlo Jr., convicted in 2001 for concocting a $6 million money laundering scheme at MCI (a global business and residential communications company), was featured in an article in the May 5 issue of Business Week. He has been invited to speak on his experiences by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Attorney's Office, major university MBA programs, corporations and various professional societies. The purpose of these speeches is to convey to audiences an understanding of the inner-workings and motivations associated with complex white-collar crimes, with an emphasis on ethical decision-making.

This event is sponsored by the Uncommon Friends Foundation, and made possible through the efforts of Dr. Charles Fornaciari, Uncommon Friends Chair in Ethics and Professor of Management.
