Timothy J. Cartwright Joins FGCU Foundation Board of Directors

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation welcomed Timothy J. Cartwright to its 2010-2011 Foundation Board of Directors at its December 2010 meeting. Cartwright will serve the board until 2014.

Cartwright is a partner with Fifth Avenue Advisors, LLC, a firm he co-founded in 2006. Cartwright operates Fifth Avenue Advisors' subsidiary Compass Advisory Group, an M&A consultancy that completes mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructurings for middle market companies.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, and a master's in Management in Finance and Accounting from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Locally, Cartwright is chairman of the Tamiami Angel Fund I, president of the Gulf Coast Venture Forum, chair-elect and member of the board of directors for the Economic Development Council of Collier County, and a member of the organizing committee for the Southwest Florida Chapter of BioFlorida. He also volunteers frequently for the Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida.

At the state level,Cartwright serves on the board of directors for the Florida Economic Development Council as SW Florida's regional director and has served on the Selection Committee for the Florida Venture Forum's Early Stage Conference.

The 2010-2011 Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of 25 Board Members, 13 Chairpersons Emeriti, seven Ex Officio members, and three Foundation Fellows.

The FGCU Foundation is the channel for private gifts to FGCU through annual giving programs, planned gifts (outright gifts such as securities or real estate or deferred gifts through wills and trusts), and capital and other special-purpose campaigns. The Foundation's principal responsibilities are to raise awareness of the need for private support, to solicit gifts on behalf of FGCU, and exercise fiduciary management of those gifts.
