FGCU Founder's Cup Fundraiser Set for Oct. 12

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Sponsorships and golfing opportunities are filling up fast as the date for Florida Gulf Coast University's 21st annual Founder's Cup tournament nears.

The day-long event, set for Friday, Oct. 12, features challenging golf on a Tom Fazio-designed course, a buffet lunch, an awards reception and dinner, silent auction, camaraderie and the satisfaction of knowing that money raised through the tournament benefits the important work of the FGCU Foundation.

The Foundation provides funds to enhance scientific, educational and athletic programs related to the mission of the university, outside the scope of state funds.

Should a golfer be lucky enough to hit a hole-in-one, he or she will win a 2013 Silverado or Camaro, compliments of Estero Bay Chevrolet.

Other major sponsors include: Service Painting of Florida, shirts; Maddox Construction, luncheon; Johnson Controls, pins; Wright Construction, reception; Taylor Rental, Naples, photos; Arthrex, Inc., driving range; United Mechanical, Inc., hats; Wayne Wiles Floor Coverings, beverage cart; and Manhattan Construction (Florida) Inc., printed program. A select few sponsorship opportunities remain.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. with a buffet lunch at Pelican's Nest Golf Club. Golfers begin play at 1:15 p.m. with a shotgun start on two championship courses. A dinner buffet and awards reception follows the tournament play.

Registration is $2,000 per foursome and $500 for individuals. A championship sponsorship level is available for $2,500 and includes a four-player team and logo on a sponsors golf towel.

Designed by world-renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio, the Gator and Hurricane courses are certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The courses offer 36 holes of fun-filled challenges for players of all skill levels. The New York Times and Florida Golfer ranked Pelican's Nest Golf Club among the best courses in Florida.

Pelican's Nest Golf Club is inside the gated community of Pelican Landing, on the west side of U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs.
