FGCU Small Business Development Center Adds New Consultants

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) continues to expand its talented team by adding three certified business analysts: Larry Trowel, Duane Hoversten and Dilman Thomas.

Larry Trowel will assist small business owners in Collier County to obtain city, county and state contracts. Trowel's professional background entails over 36 years of government contracting including compliance processes and improvements. Upon serving and advancing in the U.S. Air Force, while working for General Electric (GE), he became the first general manager for the GE-wide Government Business Practices and Process organization. He is focused on providing assistance to businesses with understanding and complying with the requirements of doing business with the government.

Duane Hoversten is an entrepreneur, educator and innovator, and specializes in general business consulting. Hoversten has started and owned a wide array of businesses such as three fertilizer plants, seven computer stores, a software company, a spice company, a consulting company and a campground. He has experience working with America's SBDC as a certified business analyst (CBA) out of Minnesota for 16 years, and is moving his talents to assist small business owners in South Fort Myers and the beaches.

Dilman Thomas specializes in business startups and expansions, and will assist entrepreneurs in Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres. He has a professional background of over 30 years in banking. During his financial career, Thomas had a focus in retail banking, managing large networks of branch locations, lending functions and insurance. He advanced to senior and executive positions in each institution that he worked.
