Last Call for FGCU's Alumni Award Nominations

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The deadline for nominations for Florida Gulf Coast University's (FGCU) Alumni Awards is Friday, January 3, 2014.

Since 2004, the FGCU Alumni Association has recognized outstanding alumni for their professional accomplishments and dedication to their communities and FGCU.

Alumni are invited to enter nominations into two categories: Alumni of Distinction and Soaring Eagle. The Alumni of Distinction, the association's most prestigious award, recognizes one graduate each year for their personal and professional achievements. The Soaring Eagle Award recognizes five recent graduates - one from each of the five colleges - who have earned their undergraduate degree from FGCU within the last decade (classes 2004 - 2014) and has excelled in their profession.

Winners will be recognized Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m., during the inaugural Alumni Award Celebration at FGCU's Lutgert Hall Courtyard.

Applications must be submitted online at Alumni may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else.

Jim Robinson, a partner in the law firm of White & Case in Miami-Dade County, was recognized as the 2013 Alumni of Distinction recipient for his long-time commitment to FGCU. Robinson organizes the annual Alumni Law Panel and Reception, established an FGCU scholarship, served on the Alumni Association Board of Directions for seven years, and is a community leader and trial attorney for the world's seventh-largest law firm.

The Alumni Association also welcomed three accomplished graduates into the Soaring Eagles Society this past year, including Ann Reuter ('11) a trust administrator and investment associate at FineMark National Bank & Trust; Tiffany Esposito-Kittinger ('09) director of operations at the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce; and Ashley Izzo ('08) a first-grade teacher and team leader at Gateway Charter School in Fort Myers.

The FGCU Alumni Association strives to build an enduring relationship between alumni and the university community through meaningful programs and by encouraging alumni to contribute their time, talents, and financial support to FGCU.
