FGCU Art Gallery Opens 16th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Art Gallery presents the 16th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition with an opening reception, sponsored in part by the Rotary Club of Sanibel-Captiva and U. Tobe, on Thursday, March 27 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Arts Complex. This exhibit will run through Thursday, April 10.
The exhibit features 70 artworks by FGCU students selected by jurors Andy Browne, Jim Krieger, and Richard Mueller from more than 300 submissions. Students of all levels were invited to participate. Scholarship and cash awards will be presented to students at the opening reception. Among the awards received is the Carl Schwartz Award for Artistic Endeavor, Southwest Florida Fine Craft Guild Awards of Excellence, the Frame-It of Bonita Springs, and the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Scholarship Award.
Itinerary for the evening - all take place at the Arts Complex:
•     5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Music from the Bower School of Music Brass Quintet
•     6 p.m. Awards Ceremony
•     7 p.m. Dance Performance

Running concurrently during the reception is an ArtLab reception for "Human Forms and Drawing Lessons" by students in Geoff Hamel's introductory drawing class; a Pottery Sale fundraiser for ceramic students heading to National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference and internships abroad in the Studios Courtyard; and a Photo Booth run by the Photography Club on the patio outside the ArtLab.

The Art Gallery is located inside the Arts Complex on FGCU’s main campus. The University is located off Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, east of I-75 between exits 123 and 128. Parking is available in Lot 7 for gallery visitors, parking passes are available at the parking information booth located at the University's entrance. Following the opening day, the Gallery will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Thursday until 8 p.m.
